Tough Love vs. Spanking

Image
This letter came across my email today and I found it quite funny, so I thought I would share it with you..... TOUGH LOVE VS. SPANKING............. Most people think it improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to control kids when they have one of 'those moments.' One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk. Some say it's the vibration from the car, others say it's the time away from any distractions such as TV, Video Games, Computer, IPod, etc. Either way, kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our car ride together. Eye to eye contact helps a lot too. I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique. Sincerely, Your Friend

Church Bulletin Bloopers

You may have seen these before through the emails circulating, but many of them made me laugh out loud, so I thought I would share them here....enjoy!!! The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals. The sermon this morning: "Jesus Walks on the Water." The sermon tonight: "Searching For Jesus." Our youth basketball team is back in action Wednesday at 8 PM in the recreation hall. Come out and watch us kill Christ the King. Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands. The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled due to a conflict. Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community. Smile at someone who is hard to love. Say "Hell" to someone who doesn't care much about you. Don't let worry kill you off -- let the Church help. Miss Charlene Mason sang "I Will Not Pass This Way Again," giving obvious pleasure to the...

Perspective.....

A father passing by his son's bedroom was astonished to see that his bed was nicely made and everything was picked up. Then he saw an envelope propped up prominently on the pillow that was addressed to "Dad." With the worst premonition he opened the envelope with trembling hands and read the letter. Dear Dad: It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you. I have been finding real passion with Stacy and she is so nice. But I knew you would not approve of her because of all her piercings, tattoos, tight motorcycle clothes and the fact that she is much older than I am. But it's not only the passion...Dad she's pregnant. Stacy said that we will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children. Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyon...

Burning Rubber!

Tonight Andrew helped me babysit for my sister and brother-in-law. They have 3 children under the age of 3, so I thought he would be a big help. Let me just say.....He was amazing! Thanks, Andrew! He has grown up and is a very responsible and helpful babysitter. When we got the kids all to bed, Andrew decided to take his scooter down the big hill on the side of the house. It's blacktop, but ends about 30 ft. before you would hit the lake. I had to crack up as I watched him fly down the hill and then use his SHOES to slow him down before he hit the grass. He came within about a foot of the lake. He melted the heels of his shoes and ground them down. I felt the shoes and they were hot. It was such a great idea, he went down about 5 more times. Tomorrow we go buy more shoes!!!

Moody Pastor's Conference

HUH??? I opened my email to find the subject line "Moody Pastor's Conference". Well, well, well! Do Pastor's get moody, so much that we need to go to a conference if we are? Upon opening the email, it was a conference at Moody Bible Institute entitled "Pastor's Conference". "Relax. Refresh. Recharge." So, I guess if you are moody, you can go. And if your not...you can still go! ha ha ha!

Negotiations

Today I told my daughter she could go to the neighbor's house for an hour to play. I said "You need to come home at 5:15, ok?" She replied "Please can I stay until 5:16?" I said "of course, that would be fine!" I laughed as she went away completely pleased with herself, in changing my mind. Amazing what one minute can do for a little girl!
